The Craft Journal – From 25th March

One of my “making for fun” projects.

Hi Everyone! Welcome to the first journal entry! I’m super excited. I wanted to do this on Monday, however I got a little side tracked. Today I have been busy busy busy with something very exciting! So this is coming to you’re a little later than planned!

I thought I would do a weekly run down of all my crafty activities and share it with you! There will be handy links within the journal to all the new content I have added in the last seven days. I hope you enjoy my ramblings. If you have any questions just get in touch and I will do my very best to help you. Keep reading for all the latest news from me!

Monday 25th March (Also happened to be International Waffle Day, delicious!)

Monday did not start well. I had three injections, which is bad. I had to have these injections to go on holiday, which is good.  For today I had planned to make six knitting tutorials.  I have been meaning to make these for weeks so I HAD to get this done. However when I was waiting for my injections Google kindly informed me that there was a crochet kit available from Aldi (for those of you not familiar with Aldi it is actually a supermarket/grocery store).

Can’t wait for this guy to arrive! (Photo – Aldi)

Google led me down a rabbit hole! Not only did Aldi have a crochet kit for sale at a bargain price, they had hundreds of other crafty goodies on offer as well as FREE POSTAGE! So I spent plenty of time carefully choosing my items and checked out my basket. Then I wrote a lovely blog post to tell you lovely crafters all about the bargains! If you want to read that post, click here.

By this time my shoulder muscles were starting to feel a bit sore from the injections, but I had knitting videos to film, edit and upload! I was not going to put these videos off again! So, with aching arms outstretched so that I had my hands in shot, I dutifully filmed my six knitting tutorials. If you want to take a look at them click here.

So in summary, Monday started badly but was ultimately productive. Plus, I had bonus crafty bargains to look forward to.

Tuesday 26th March

#craftgoals

Tuesday was a design day. The sun was shining. I had Jaffa Cakes. My blouse was the exact same colour as the yarn I was working with. I designed a pair of fingerless gloves/wrist warmers with a cable. They looked super cute and they felt super soft. If you want to have a go at knitting these quite frankly brilliant gloves, you will find the free pattern here

Wednesday 27th March

Today I was supposed to photograph my resin jewellery pieces for the blog. However the pieces had arrived early and I already took the photos. Instead I decided I would knit the other glove and film tutorials for the technical pieces of the pattern such as the rib, thumb and the cable. I clipped the videos together to make a walk through video for the project. It’s pretty neat, you can watch it here!

That’s a pretty good shot for stupid o’ clock in the morning

However today was not all plain sailing, first I went to a doctor’s appointment TWO DAYS EARLY! I have no idea what I was actually supposed to be doing at 3 o’ clock that day, but if I was supposed to be meeting you and I didn’t turn up, I am sorry. After this I had a few house jobs to do which took a lot longer than expected. Then, just when I get on top of things a guest shows up, and doesn’t leave until half nine at night! At this point I had more than half a glove to knit and a whole bunch of filming and editing to do.  As well as take photos of the gloves for the pattern, which also had to be posted on the blog! But I was damned if I wasn’t going to get it all done. I can’t remember what time I went to bed, and I think that’s probably for the best!

Thursday 28th March

After the fingerless glove/wrist warmer debacle I woke up late. Very late. I felt tired, but I felt very happy that I had finished what I had set myself and I wasn’t running behind! I spent the rest of the day turning one of my photographs from Stanwick Lakes into digital art. Then I turned that into a paper crafting kit. You can download it for free here!

In the evening I furiously crocheted more squares on a blanket I have been working on. The Woolly Workers have been making dog blankets for the Irish Retriever Rescue!

That is going to be one snuggly doggo I can tell you.

Friday 29th March

We used this photo to create the digital art

I had a lovely afternoon at Scotch Lodge Farm with the Woolly Workers. After that I went to my old work, dropped off some things and then met a friend to help her create some digital art for a website. We made the logo and the header for her Facebook page, Instagram and future website. (We will be making the website soon!) If you want to see the artwork you can find her Facebook page here.

Saturday 30th March

Ah lovely Saturday. Crafting for fun. The main project I made was an up cycled candle jar, which I gave to my mum for Mother’s Day. I also made a few cards, crocheted some more of my dog blanket and worked on a super secret project that I can’t tell you about yet. The only clue I can give you is “collaboration”. Anyways, this super secret project caused me a whole world of hurt yesterday (1st April) and is the main reason I didn’t get to make this post yesterday!

Sunday 31st March (Mother’s Day in the UK)

All of my card samples!

I took my mum to Scotch Lodge for afternoon tea. It was sooo good. Sandwiches, chocolate eclairs, strawberry meringues and scones and cream. It was really great. We all had a great time, mum liked her card and presents and Scotch Lodge even gave her some flowers. After tea we went home and I showed mum some of the projects I have been working on. When mum went home I made up a bunch of samples with the mosaic card making kit. And of course in the evening I crocheted more of my dog blanket.

That’s all for now. You will have to wait for next week for more crafty goings on and general adulting disasters. Although a lot has happened, even though it’s only Tuesday!

Lots of Love,

George x
