It is Wednesday, the middle of the week, hump day if you will. Over on GeorgeCrafts we know Wednesday as art journaling day.
This week we will look at creating an alternative self portrait. Instead of focusing on what we look like, this “portrait” will look at who we are. It is easy for us to find fault with the way we look, but the truth is, appearence is not important. It is who we are that matters.
The idea of this journal prompt is to look at the things that make you who you are and to celebrate those things. For example, you might be a passionate sportsperson, a writer, artist, collector of certain things. You might have hobbies you are passionate about. You may love the oceans or forests. Whatever it is that makes you who you are is important, worthy and valuable. Because we are all, as individuals, important; worthy and valuable. It is easy to forget these things and for our self esteem to crumble. So take a bit of time out t o celebrate your “you-ness”.
I have chosen to make my self portrait as a collage, you may want to paint, draw, stamp, collage of use a mixture of techniques. The choice is completely yours. Your self portrait should be as unique as you are.
